it depends your point of interest and how long do you expect to stay.
You have a lot of towns to see, but to be efficient, visit Roma. I have never been there, except for a flight connexion . but I know that is the most attractive city, you will not be deceived. You have also Firenze, Venezia, Napoli

Hi! excuse me for my retard and my bad english...I live in France but I'm born in Italy. I lived in Rome for 4 years but I'm born in Florence. So I know the two cities. I really think that Florence is better than Roma, and there is less trafic (does this word exist??)
